Saliency-Enabled Coding Unit Partitioning and Quantization Control for Versatile Video Coding

The latest video coding standard, versatile (VVC), has greatly improved efficiency over its predecessor standard high (HEVC), but at the expense of sharply increased complexity. In context perceptual (PVC), visual saliency model that utilizes characteristics human system to improve become a reliable method due advances in computer performance and algorithms. this paper, novel VVC optimization scheme compliant PVC framework is proposed, which consists fast unit (CU) partition algorithm quantization control algorithm. Firstly, based on model, we proposed CU division scheme, including redetermination depth by calculating Scharr operator variance, as well executive decision for intra sub-partitions (ISP), reduce Secondly, adjusting parameter multi-level classification values level bitrate. comparison with reference experimental results indicate can about 47.19% computational complexity achieve bitrate saving 3.68% average. Meanwhile, reasonable peak signal-to-noise ratio losses nearly same subjective quality.
